Undertone Guide

NC/NW, Mac Foundations and Why I Had to Get Re-Matched

NC? NW? Cool Undertone? Warm Undertone? Not Cool? Neutral Cool?

I won’t lie and say I had no experience with these phrases before my makeup journey, I did. As a graphic designer and art dilettante, I know my color wheels, warm vs cool shades and the importance of proper matching. With all that, I still managed to get matched to the wrong color foundation the first time I went to a MAC counter. But then – I’m not alone am I? MAC Cosmetics seems keen to confuse the living kittens out of aesthetically aware girls everywhere with their foundation system. In this post I hope to clear some common misconceptions up, as well as ridicule myself and my temporarily yellow face.

BH Cosmetics 120 Color Palette 3rd Edition – Review and Swatches

I’m so glad that I wrote this review up a few days ago! Right now I’m in an LSAT class that will go from 10am to 7pm; with only one lunch break. Aaaarg!! It was the same yesterday and will be the same tomorrow. I’m actually wearing a pin-up eye look created almost exclusively win his palette.

It’s been a long time coming but here (finally!) is my review of BH Cosmetic’s 120 Color Palette…3rd edition! For all the Generic Info and for the reasoning behind the packaging score, you can read the 2nd edition’s review here. Like the last review, this will be quite picture heavy as I have provided swatches for each column.

Lookin' Fancy There Birchbox!

July 2011 Birchbox feat. Cynthia Rowley

I’ve totally been procrastinating posting because I knew I was going to get this. Just as I was giving up and finishing a post for something else, it arrived in the mail! The much-hyped Cynthia Rowley July Birchbox.

June Birch Box 2

June 2011 Birchbox

Aah! So I took my own advice and signed up for a Birchbox account. It shipped and I received it in 2 days, though Birchbox warns that shipping to the west coast can take up to 10 days. Word around the beauty block was that this box came with a full size Laura Geller Baked Blush-n-Highlight or Laura Geller Baked Blush-n-Brighten (valued alone at $29.50!) and I am here to confirm that it is true! But before I get to that, let’s take a trip down the fortuitous lane that was the receipt of my first Birchbox!

Individual Eyelash Extensions – Review

In case you missed it, i’ve already done a post on getting my eyelashes done in “flares.” You can read it here. This post will be for the somewhat different and more costly experience of having eyelash extensions done. I put quite a bit of information on the post with the flares but i’ll go into a little more detail before my review which you can read after the jump.

I gave myself a week of time to “experience” the lashes before posting this review. It also gave me a good basis for the “Results.” portion. I hope you enjoy~
